Attorney Profile - Steven M. Gabor
I am a product of the SUNY system since that was what my family could afford. I received my undergraduate degree from Stony Brook, my MBA and JD from Buffalo. During college and law school I worked (at Kennedy Airport) to pay tuition and also received a Regent’s Scholarship. After graduating law school, I worked in business for a short time and when it turned out not to be what I expected, I started my practice of law, first as an associate in New York then in New Jersey. I went out on my own in 1996 by opening an office in Freehold. I was fortunate to have a good relationship with the attorney that I previously worked for since he continued to finance my cases, which for someone starting out can be prohibitively expensive.
One of my first cases, while on my own, was a wrongful death case against the County of Essex, which I hit for $660,000.00. Another highlight was an acquittal I won as a Pool Attorney for a juvenile, who was charged with sexual assault, which carries lifetime registration. Both of these cases stand out, since they pitted me against a big legal department and a prosecutor’s office with unlimited resources. In the end, I prevailed.
I have been married for 22 years and have two teenage sons. I am active in my community and enjoy long walks, yoga, downhill skiing and spin.
I am often available for a last minute representation and consultation.
